TREATMENT TECHNIQUE AND SAFETY CHECKLIST
•Check treated zone skin temperature with IR thermometer before starting
•Start the device and set therapy parameters according to BTL Vanquish ME Clinical Guide
•Start the treatment by pressing start button and dialing up the energy; maximum desired energy should be selected at the beginning of the treatment (see BTL Vanquish ME Clinical Guide)
•Instruct the patient to inform you about the level of heat (scale 0-4) and to report immediately any hotspots (spots where heat goes beyond comfort level)
•Treatment should never be uncomfortable or painful
•Immediately angle away the part of applicator placed above hot spots; keep re-positioning the applicator unless the hotspot disappears
•Pause the treatment shortly and check skin temperature if you do not manage to solve the hotspot problem (skin temperature should not exceed 43C)
•For tuning recommendations, see the Manual of BTL Vanquish ME TORONTO. Always try to achieve tuning as high as possible.
•Increase the applicator-to-skin distance and/or decrease the power if skin temperature exceeds 43℃; use cooling pad if temperature significantly exceeds 43C or skin is dramatically irritated (skin erythema is normal skin reaction)
•Titrate down power if patient refers too hot sensation all around treated area
•Check shortly skin temperature and sweating reaction during automatic treatment pauses; skin must be dry and any sweat must be immediately wiped off
•Skin should reach therapeutic temperature after 10-15 mins of treatment time (typically 39-42℃); skin temperature often decreases below 39℃ last 10-15 mins of the treatment due to systemic body protection reaction
•The treated area is typically showing strong erythema, patient can feel warmth and/or have a tendency to sweat last 10-15 mins of treatment – this is a sign of an effective BTL Vanquish ME Toronto treatment
